M.H. Goldstein was an attorney who specialized in labor law. He was the national counsel for the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America (IUMSWA), whose members worked at Bethlehem Steel and other companies. Other clients included Philadelphia Window Cleaners and Maintenance Union, Upholsterers' International Union, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, and Knitgoods Workers Union (affiliated with the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union).
This is a collection of records of M.H. Goldstein. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, notes, meeting minutes, contracts, newspaper clippings, legal briefs, transcripts, arbitration records, and other legal records. Many of the papers relate to Goldstein's work on behalf of the IUMSWA. The records include some of Goldstein's billing records, reference files on social welfare issues, union regulation, and labor contracts. The collection also includes a small amount of financial material for the 132nd class of Central High School, of which Goldstein was Treasurer.
