The collection contains nine bound typescripts in Hebrew and Yiddish, translated from German, written, or edited by Abraham Barmad. Typescripts are primarily on philosophy and religious topics including translations of The Apology of Socrates by Plato and essays by Arthur Schopenhauer. One typescript contains articles and letters that appeared in the Yiddish newspaper, Idishe Velt. Each volume contains an insert in the front cover with an English translation of the title. The translated titles appear in the collection inventory below.
Donated by Gratz College in April 1975. Collection previously administered by the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Center, acquired by Temple in June 2009.
Three of the bound typescripts have been digitized. Contact the Special Collections Research Center for more information.
