William Anthony "Tony" Auth, Jr. was a children's book illustrator and an editorial cartoonist, particularly for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Auth won the Pulitzer Prize in 1976.
Original cartoon depicting George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower, and Geraldine Ferraro promoting various products. In 1985 Ferraro, then the Democratic vice presidential nominee, appeared in a Diet Pepsi commercial. Auth drew the cartoon during a February 1985 visit to a classroom at Plymouth Elementary School in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania. It was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer in March 1985.
