Overview and metadata sections
Carol Gayman Stein attended Camp Tel-Hai for thirteen summers beginning in 1944 at the age of three. Camp Tel-Hai, a co-educational Jewish summer camp located in Jamison, Bucks County, PA was founded by Joseph Levitsky, graduate of Temple University, founder of Akiba Hebrew Academy, and fellow of Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning. Camp Tel-Hai operated from the 1930s until the close of the 1965 camp season, when a Catholic organization took over the camp renaming it Camp Neumann.
The Carol Gayman Stein Camp Tel-Hai Photographs and Memorabilia consists of a presentation or marketing album filled with black and white photographs of Camp Tel-Hai and its campers engaged in various activities such as swimming, fishing, craft making, and dancing. The album was used by Camp Tel-Hai staff to showcase the camp and its activities to potential campers and their families. At the back of the presentation album, are approximately thirty color photographs of a 1996 Camp Tel-Hai reunion, organized by Carol Gayman Stein. Also included in the collection are reproduction photographs of Camp Tel-Hai in 1948; correspondence from James Warren addressed to Carol Gayman Stein; souvenirs and personal memorabilia of Carol Gayman Stein including activity patches, camp cabaret programs, and other printed ephemera.
