Overview and metadata sections
The Jewish Cemetery Association of Greater Philadelphia, alternatively known as the Jewish Cemeteries Association of Greater Philadelphia, is an organization consisting of numerous Jewish cemeteries in Philadelphia. A rotating leadership group comprised of representatives from member cemeteries represents the association on public matters concerning burial and interment. Representatives from member cemeteries occasionally gather collectively to formulate organization-wide standards for burials and maintenance while keeping within the framework of Jewish tradition.
The Jewish Cemetery Association of Greater Philadelphia Collection of Burial Arrangement Forms and Cemetery Regulations consists of examples of documents used during the course of cemetery operations. Documents originate from a wide range of cemeteries and include purchase agreements, deeds for lots, certificates confirming burial rights, rules and regulations of specific cemeteries, and orders for grave markings. All of the forms requiring supplementary information are blank. A small amount of the blank forms are photocopies of originals. The documents run from 1959 to 1967.
Donated by Arthur Klein in May 1980. Collection previously administered by the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Center, acquired by Temple in June 2009.
