Overview and metadata sections
Yta Grinberg (anglicized as Yetta Greenberg) was born in 1890 in Romania. She immigrated to the United States in 1901. She married Solomon Marcus in 1916, and they had three daughters and two sons. Yetta died in October 1982.
Hand-stitched notebook of secular Romanian songs compiled by Yta Grinberg, presumably in grammar school. A handwritten title on the first page "Caietele ale cântece din clasa IIIa primara" loosely translates into English as "A Collection of 3rd Grade Songs." There are drawings of fish and birds near the back of the songbook.
Donated by Mildred Bedrick, daughter of Yetta Marcus in November 1986. Collection previously administered by the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Center, acquired by Temple in June 2009.
Collection processed and finding aid prepared in November 2017 by Jessica M. Lydon, Associate Archivist.
