Overview and metadata sections

Daniel Hoffman -- scholar, writer and teacher -- was born in New York and educated at Columbia University, receiving his Ph.D. there in 1956. He pursued a distinguished academic career, producing several scholarly works including; The seminal form and fable in American fiction (1961). Hoffman has also published more than seven volumes of poetry. As a poet and scholar, he has won several awards and honors including the Columbia University Medal for Excellence (1964). Hoffman was also a National Endowment for the Humanities research fellow, 1975-76.

Two typed letters and two typed manuscript poems. Letter to Kirgo-Books requesting any signed editions by Elizabeth Bowen, as well as a submission of two poems for consideration: In the museum I saw the, and as I was awaking at the breaking of Dago. Both poems are included in the collection. Second letter to George Kirby, commenting on Kirgo's No.4 catalog and complaining of mail service, and offering two books for sale.
