Overview and metadata sections

Paul E. Aloe served as Chairman of the Abington Township Republican Committee (ATRO) in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, from 1971 to 1976.

This collection consists of the files of Paul E. Aloe, who served as Chairman of Abington Township Republican Committee (ATRO) in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania from 1971-1976. The files are a haphazard group of materials regarding the operations of ATRO. They include correspondence, press releases, and other documents relating to candidate endorsements, primarily for township offices, and Montgomery County Republican Committee resignations and appointments. There is material on the Committee's activities in the 1973 Abington School District directors election and ATRO's demands for changes in school administration in 1975.

Summary descriptive information on this collection was compiled in 2012-2014 as part of a project conducted by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania to make better known and more accessible the largely hidden collections of small, primarily volunteer run repositories in the Philadelphia area. The Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR) was funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

This is a preliminary finding aid. No physical processing, rehousing, reorganizing, or folder listing was accomplished during the HCI-PSAR project.

In some cases, more detailed inventories or finding aids may be available on-site at the repository where this collection is held; please contact Old York Road Historical Society directly for more information.
