The Church Door Canteen was operated out of the Church of Our Saviour in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and entertained service men and women during World War II, mostly from the Willow Grove Naval Station.
This collection consists of about 50 items of World War II era memorabilia of the Church Door Canteen that were assembled by Robert H. Kraeger, Sr., who served as chairman of the House Committee. Included are papers relating to a quiz program conducted as entertainment, a log of long distance telephone calls made in 1944, clippings, and other ephemera.

Summary descriptive information on this collection was compiled in 2011-2012 as part of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR), using data provided by the Old York Road Historical Society. The HCI-PSAR project was funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
This is a preliminary finding aid. No physical processing, rehousing, reorganizing, or folder listing was done in the HCI-PSAR project.
