Overview and metadata sections

Norman W. Fesmire (1916-1995) and his wife Sylvia (1915-2001) were both local historians based in Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Norman was chairman of the Lower Moreland Township Historical Architectural Review Board and Sylvia co-founded the Pennickpacka Historical Society (Montgomery County, Pennsylvania).

This collection relates to Norman W. and Sylvia M. Fesmire's interest in Lower Moreland Township history and historic preservation. Norman was chairman of the Township Historical Architectural Review Board and Sylvia co-founded the Huntingdon Valley Historical Society. The papers include a notebook with Sylvia’s notes on local history, extracts from publications, and some ephemera. There are also files on Norman’s work with the Huntingdon Valley Historic District, with individual files on several sites including Alnwick Station, Comly House, Fetters Mill, Lady Washington House, and Schell House.

Summary descriptive information on this collection was compiled in 2011-2012 as part of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR), using data provided by the Old York Road Historical Society. The HCI-PSAR project was funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

This is a preliminary finding aid. No physical processing, rehousing, reorganizing, or folder listing was done in the HCI-PSAR project.
