Willoughby H. Reed (b. 1856) was a doctor, pharmacist, and historian who lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution, the Pennsylvania German Society, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Genealogyical Society of Pennsylvania, and Historical Society of Montgomery County (Pennsylvania). He acted as Secretary for West Norriton Township Board of Supervisors. In 1884, he married Annie R. Jarrett. Her father, Samuel F. Jarrett (1825-1917), was the County Treasurer for Montgomery County, and a farmer.

This collection includes genealogical research on the Reed family by W. H. Reed, as well as personal papers of W. H. Reed and S. F. Jarrett. The research notes on the Reed and Leidy families are accompanied by some correspondence and a registry pertaining to the distribution of the book History and Genealogy of the Reed Family. There are also brief genealogical research notes on the Rockefeller, Garner, Probasco, Harmer, Hartman, and Edwards families, togther with an account book of Andrew Reed. The personal papers consist of a number of pocket diaries, travel logs, notebooks, and account books belonging to W. H. Reed and S. F. Jarrett, 1864-1926. There are some Samuel F. Jarrett estate papers. The collection also features a small amount of correspondence sent to Dr. W. H. Reed in his capacity as Secretary for West Norriton Township Board of Supervisors (Jeffersonville, Pa.), 1908-1911.
