Overview and metadata sections
This collection contains a wide range of items in terms of both content and format. The strongest series contains lithographs, etchings and engravings of various Fairmount Park locations and features- particularly views of and from Historic Houses, park features and the Fairmount Water Works. The bulk of this collection is from the mid to late 19th Century.
Eight original carborundum and charcoal prints created by prominent local artists for the Works Progress Administration's Pennsylvania Art Project program around 1937 are included, as well. These prints were likely hung in the previous location of the archives in Memorial Hall, and were transitioned into the overall archival collection, although the WPA prints are not of park features.
Calendars created in fundraising efforts for Fairmount Park from 1985 to 1995 are also present, in addition to materials and photographs created for use in these documents. There are also a limited number of watercolor prints- primarily giclee reproductions- of park features and locations. Additionally, there are a large number of ink transparencies of prominent park structures such as the Historic Houses, Boathouse Row, and the outdoor sculpture collection.
