The Glendinning's are a local Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia family. The Glendinning collection, 1800-1980, is comprised of family histories and documentation of local events.

The Glendinning's are a local Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia family.

This collection contains family histories of : Glendinning, Roberts, Carpenter, Fisher, Cooke, Frazer, McMichail, Young, Zimmerman families. There is also documentation of the Main Street Fair 1946-1948, and WWII Civil Defense in Chestnut Hill information dating from 1941-1945. Main Street Fair information 1946-1948, fair was moved to R.R. station parking lot on W. Evergreen Ave. when C.H. Hospital built parking garage on fair site. Civil Defense in Chestnut Hill, 1941-1945.

Summary descriptive information on this collection was compiled in 2011-2012 as part of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR), using data provided by the Chestnut Hill Historical Society. The HCI-PSAR project was funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

This is a preliminary finding aid. No physical processing, rehousing, reorganizing, or folder listing was done in the HCI-PSAR project.
