Overview and metadata sections

The Andrea Allen Collection consists of three items collected by Andrea Allen, the daughter of American chemist and longtime Perkin-Elmer Corporation employee Thomas J. Porro. The collection contains a handwritten letter to "Hillary," which is written on stationary belonging to Thomas J. Porro. It also includes a black and white photograph from the 1960s of Richard Perkin and Kurt Wilde of Perkin-Elmer in a company laboratory located at the firm's European branch in Bodensee, Germany. Also included is a memorial service program for the late American organic chemist Robert Burns Woodward, who Andrea Allen states was an advisor to her late father when he was a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The letter also refers to two additional Perkin-Elmer marketing photographs featuring Thomas J. Porro that Andrea Allen could not locate at the time of writing the letter.

The Andrea Allen Collection was donated to the Science History Institute by Andrea Allen in 2023.
