The Battelle Memorial Institute came into existence in 1923 as a provision in the will of Gordon Battelle, an Ohio industrialist, to commemorate the deceased members of his family and to help the cause of the advancement of science through the funding of scientific research. The Institute began its operations in 1929. It is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
The collection consists of five informational brochures concerning the activities of the Battelle Memorial Institute. The brochures are as follows: The Battelle Family,1953, Battelle What It Is, How It Operates, 1961, Literature Contributions, 1961, 1964, Research at Battelle Memorial Institute, 1957, and Research in Chemistry, 1959.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes and the collection is open to the public.
The Battelle Memorial Institute Brochures were found in the collections of the Science History Institute (formerly the Chemical Heritage Foundation).
