The Roald Hoffmann and Carl Djerassi Play and Articles Collection includes a signed copy of the play "Oxygen" by Polish-American theoretical chemist Roald Hoffmann and Bulgarian-American pharmaceutical chemist Carl Djerassi from 2001. The copy of the play is humorously signed, "Carl Hoffmann + Roald Djerassi." As collected and maintained by Philip Rakita, the collection also includes the following: a print advertisement for the world premiere dated April 2-7, 2001 at the San Diego Repretory Theater in San Diego, California; a ticket stub from the premiere dated April 3, 2001; a description of how the signed copy of the play was created as written by Rakita; newspaper articles reviewing the play from 2001; excerpts from the original program published in 2001; and ,"An essay on oxygen, by Carl Djerassi," article as published by Chemical & Engineering News on January 7, 2019.
The Roald Hoffmann and Carl Djerassi Signed Play and Articles Collection was donated to the Science History Institute by Philip Rakita in 2019.
