This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the Quaker Meeting Records at Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections and Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College. Unless otherwise noted, the materials described below are physically available in their reading room, and not digitally available through the web.

Overview and metadata sections

An indulged meeting known as Charlestown was established in 1812 under the care of Valley Preparative Meeting and Radnor Monthly Meeting. The meeting for worship was established by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting in 1815. The Orthodox branch of this meeting was discontinued in 1828. In 1843, Charlestown Meeting (Hicksite) became Schuylkill Preparative Meting of Radnor Monthly Meeting. In 1850, the preparative meeting was discontinued, and its members were attached to Valley Preparative Meeting. An indulged meeting at Schuylkill was established in 1850. This meeting was transferred to Valley Monthly Meeting in 1936. In 1954, this meeting became Schuylkill Monthly Meeting

Records include: Minutes of the indulged meeting, 1939-1954, and of the Monthly Meeting, 1954-1972, 1974-1977, 1979-1982, 1998-2002, and 2014-2019. Marriage licenses, 1958-1965, and certificates of removal received, 1959-67, laid in minute book, 1954-1968. Folder of minutes, 1968-72, includes travelling minutes. Miscellaneous records of the earlier meetings at Schuylkill include an account book, 1897-1918; miscellaneous financial papers, 1868 -1929; trip through Pennsylvania (fragment only), 1805; manuscript copy of article from Saturday Evening Post regarding Elias Hicks' death, 1830; property records, 1814 and n.d.; graveyard fund papers, 1926-1934; correspondence and poem, 1927-1935 and n.d.; a library record, 1865-1871; burial ground survey, 2015; and a visitors' register.
