This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the Quaker Meeting Records at Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections and Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College. Unless otherwise noted, the materials described below are physically available in their reading room, and not digitally available through the web.

Overview and metadata sections

Gwynedd Preparative Meeting was established in 1702. In 1714, the preparative meeting was transferred to Gwynedd Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1936, Gwynedd Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established as Gwynedd Monthly Meeting at the dissolution of the first Gwynedd Monthly Meeting (Hicksite). From 1936 to 1974, Gwynedd Preparative Meeting held annual sessions as a separate meeting for business of Gwynedd Monthly Meeting.

Deposit

Minutes of the Gwynedd Union Lyceum, 1875-1900, and of the Friends Social Union of Gwynedd and Ambler Friends, 1907-1924, have been catalogued separately by Friends Historical Library and placed in RG4.

Volume for 1823-1834 contains minutes of the pre-Separation men's meeting, 1823-1827; volume for 1891-1920 includes membership lists, 1899 and 1908-1919; volume for 1921-1934 includes membership lists, 1921 and 1932. Volume for 1921-1934 accompanied by folder of miscellaneous papers (chiefly financial), 1921-1934.

Joint sessions with men began on Eleventh Month 24, 1892. Women Friends kept a separate minute book until Third Month 24, 1893 inclusive.
