Salem Preparative Meeting was established as Bedford Preparative in 1792, set off from Amawalk Preparative. It was part of Chappaqua Monthly until Amawalk Monthly was established in 1798. Meetings of the Hicksite branch were held quarterly after 1879. The Hicksite meeting was laid down in 1882. The Orthodox branch was laid down in 1829, members attached to Amawalk Preparative Meeting.
