Overview and metadata sections
In 1974, New York Monthly Meeting was set off from New York-Westbury Quarterly Meeting as New York Quarterly Meeting. The former preparative meetings of New York Monthly Meeting were reestablished as monthly meetings within the Quarterly Meeting: Fifteenth Street, Brooklyn, Morningside, and Staten Island. New York Quarterly Meeting is still active, and currently includes the above monthly meetings as well as Flushing and Manhattan Monthly Meetings.
The Workroom was established in 1940 by the Joint Peace and Service Committee of the New York Monthly Meetings. The Workroom, a sewing room, served the world in its relief efforts by its production of garments for needy children during World War II and later expanding to include Greece, Nigeria and other locations world-wide until December 31, 1976.
Transferred from Haviland Records Room by NYYM in 1997.

Arranged by quarterly meeting date. Ministry & Counsel also has care of the Concern for Quaker Life Working Group.
During this period, Ministry & Counsel records include threshing sessions related to the newly-established independence of NYC Friends Schools. Particular concerns of the Committee were the unionization of Brooklyn Friends School, and a well-publicized employment dispute at Friends Seminary.
