The first World Youth Congress was held in Geneva, 1936. The second Congress, held at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. surpassed the first in number of attendees and nations represented, but became controversial because of the prominence of Communist youth. The first Congress was held under the auspices of the International Federation of League of Nations Societies.
