Overview and metadata sections

Friendly World Broadcasting Co.; headquartered in Wallingford, Pennsylvania; founded ca. 1957 by Ed Randall (Edwin T. Randall, 1896-1975). Randall broadcast a positive, inclusive message, which he considered his "ministry." He teamed with the American Friends Service Committee to develop radio programs. His broadcast programs were important in promoting racial integration in the Southern United States. For more information, consult "Edwin T. Randall and Friendly World Broadcasting: Radio and White Racial Liberalism in the Age of Mass Protest" in Radio and the Struggle for Civil Rights in the South by Brian Ward (Gainesville Florida: University Press of Florida, 2004).
