Overview and metadata sections

The Committee was formed, in part, as a reaction to the firing of a New York City school teacher, James Council, who refused to comply with school air-raid shelter drills. Their slogan was "The only shelter is peace.".

The Swarthmore College Peace Collection is not the official repository for the records of this organization.
