The American Netural Conference Committee's purpose was to call a conference of neutral nations to mediate between the World War One belligerents, with the aim of ending the war. Hamilton Holt was chair, Jane Addams and Emily Greene Balch were vice chairs, and Rebecca Shelley was secretary. The committee held mass meetings and sent petitions to the president.
