Isabel Magee Sherman was an American journalist.
The collection consists of primarily of writings, correspondence, documents, photographs, a diary (1901), and printed matter relating to Sherman's experiences in Mexico. The writings include a typescript with holograph corrections of The Autobiography of General Porfirio Díaz, Ex-President of Mexcio covering the years 1830-1867, edited by Sherman, which appeared in installments in Cosmopolitan (1910); and essays on Mexico. There is also correspondence with lawyers, publishers, Mexican government officials, and James J. Shirley, a business associate; a diary from a trip to Mexico; photographs of David E. Thompson, U.S. ambassador to Mexico (1906-1909), and Felix Díaz, older brother of Porfirio and governor of Oaxaca Province; as well as a small selection of newspaper clippings and printed material.

The collection has been arranged by material type.
Gift of Barbara Dailey in December 1980 (AM81-51). Additions are a gift of Barbara Dailey in 2004 (AM2004-137).
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process.
