Overview and metadata sections
Wendy Kaminer is an American lawyer and writer. Educated at Smith College and Boston University Law School, Kaminer was on staff in the New York Legal Aid Society and later the New York City Mayor's office. Kaminer served on the board of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts and, from 1999-2006, on the national board of the ACLU. While on the ACLU national board, Kaminer, along with former ACLU executive director Ira Glasser, Karen Delince, and others, formed a group called "Save the ACLU," protesting actions taken by current executive director Anthony Romero and seeking his ouster.
In 2001, Kaminer married civil liberties activist Woody Kaplan.
Kaminer is the author of a number of books, including I'm Dysfunctional, You're Dysfunctional: The Recovery Movement and Other Self-Help Fashions (1992), A Fearful Freedom: Women's Flight from Equality (1990), Worst Instincts: Cowardice, Conformity and the ACLU (2009).
