Overview and metadata sections
Makoto Yasuda is the former Chairman of Private Investment Company for Asia (PICA), an association of 243 North American, European, Japanese, Australian, and Canadian companies and banks. Based in Singapore, PICA funded new and existing private businesses throughout Asia, specifically in countries with tiger economies.
Yasuda earned his B.A in Economics from Gakushuin University in Tokyo (1960) and a M.S. in Accounting Science from the University of Illinois (1963). Prior to becoming Chairman of PICA, Yasuda worked for the organization on projects involving direct equity participation, technology transfers, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, project management, and corporate governance. He was appointed Chairman after PICA was acquired by the Elders Finance Group from Australia. Yasuda remained Chairman until he left to establish his own corporate advisory and business consulting firm in 1987. He currently serves as the sole shareholder and president of Yasuda Makoto and Co., Ltd.
The collection is comprised of Private Investment Company for Asia's annual and quarterly reports, investment proposals and reports on investment projects, and Board of Directors and Executive Committee meeting minutes and correspondence. Also of note is the correspondence between the founders of PICA and programs from the annual general meetings.
