Overview and metadata sections
This collection contains pamphlets, leaflets, serials, small monographs, and posters pertaining to indigenous peoples and other ethnic minorities in Bolivia. The range of subjects addressed by the material is broad, ranging from indigenous rights movements to local handicrafts. Almost all the documents are published in Bolivia by non-governmental organizations, indigenous and rural groups, and the Bolivian government from the years 1970-2005.
The collection is divided into five subject areas. Within each subject area, materials are grouped according to publishing organization. These publishers appear in alphabetical order, and items from each publisher are also organized alphabetically.
Organized into the following series:

This series addresses, in a broad sense, the various routes that can be taken towards legal recognition and political enfranchisement for indigenous groups. Documents in this section introduce a variety of prominent indigenous rights groups and their publications, as well as some elements of Bolivian law that pertain to the legal rights of that country's indigenous population.

Series 6 contains materials that could be considered a sub-set of the material from the previous section. Because of the history of conquest and forced migration throughout the Americas, the link between indigenous populations and their native territories still holds special importance. This section's contents address the designation of territorios comunitarios de orígen (TCOs) and other aspects of the rights of indigenous populations in terms of land tenure and stewardship.
