Overview and metadata sections
This collection comprises twenty seven lantern slides (10 x 8.5 cm. each), nineteen hand-coloured and four black-and-white. They depict antiquities, architecture, local costumes, and everyday life in Athens, Greece at the beginning of the 20th century. All bearing printed captions and numbering. Eleven with "Underwood & Underwood" or "Keystone View Company" copyright, the rest with "Reading Public Museum and Art Gallery" label.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Collection Inventory
Consists of twenty-seven lantern slides depicting various antiquities of Athens, including the Acropolis and its monuments, such as the Parthenon, the Erechtheum, the Temple of Athena Nike, statues, such as part of the frieze by Phidias on the west wall of the Parthenon, the pediment with the Victory of Athens, and the statue of Athena Parthenos; the Tower of the Winds; Columns of Olympian Zeus with the Acropolis in the background; the Royal Palace; the Olympieion; the Theater of Bacchus; the prison of Socrates; the gravesite memorial (stele) to two sisters Demetria and Pamphile at the Kerameikos archaeological park (cemetery); and the Pnyx. There are also slides showing scenes of evreyday life, architecture and local costumes: the Old Market Place; bridge across Ilissus to Stadium; a soldier of the King's Guard; and villas of the wealthy.
