Overview and metadata sections
Bartolomeo Borri was a photographer of Italian origin who was noted for his photographs of Greece, particularly Corfu, where he had a studio.
The collection is an open collection of photographs by Bartolomeo Borri.
Purchase from Krul Antiquarian Books, Bernard J. Shapero Rare Books, and Frattis Auctions in 2005-2012; Acquired with matching funds provided by the Program in Hellenic Studies with the support of the Stanley J. Seeger Hellenic Fund and Gift of the Program in Hellenic Studies with the support of the Stanley J. Seeger Hellenic Fund (AM2006-71, 2008-81, 2012-108; 2013-12; 2013-84; 2019-24; 2019-110).
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.

Consists of two photographs (26 x 12 cm each) attached on both sides of the same cardboard (previous part of a detached photograph album from the late 19th century). The first photograph depicts the port of Piraeus, captioned "Pyraeus" and numbered "73" on the negative in white ink. It could be dated approximately in 1888 from the buildings. The second image on the other side of the cardboard depicts the Choragic Monument of Lycicrates, the surrounding then houses and the Lycabettus Hill at the background, captioned on the cardboard "Dorisches Monument des Lysicrates" and numbered "28".

The first image depicts the Parthenon (Athens, Greece); captions in German "Parthenon (Nordseite)"; numbered "13" on the negative. On the reverse, is depicting a panoramic view of the city of Athens from around Solōnos and Amerikēs streets towards Acropolis; pencilled captions in German on the cardboard "Gesamtansicht von Athens und der Acropolis"; numbered "5" on the image.

Consists of two albumen photographic prints mounted on both sides of the same cardboard ((previous part of a detached photograph album). The first image depicts the Byzantine church of Panagia Gorgoepikoos in Athens (Greece); number "36" at the lower left-hand side of the negative; captions in German on the cardboard "Alte Cathedrale." On the reverse, there is a panoramic view of Athens from the Acropolis towards the Lycabettus Hill. Photograph is captioned in German "Lykabettos [...] Athen."

Corfu"; the garden with the statues; the fresco depicting the Triumph of Achilles; and an image of the interior with the staircase. Three of the images bear the photographer's stamp "Fotografia Borri & Figlio, Corfu" as well as handwritten notes in English on the reverse.
