This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the Princeton University Library: Manuscripts Division. Unless otherwise noted, the materials described below are physically available in their reading room, and not digitally available through the web.
Overview and metadata sections
The collection consists of photographs of World War I scenes in France and other countries. While the majority depict military installments, soldiers, and high-ranking officers, there are a large number of portraits of everyday people and landscape photographs. The photographs were tipped into photo albums. Some of them have appeared in published works. Most of the photographs bear a handwritten caption in French on the reverse side, though some are in English. The captions have been copied verbatim and serve as folder titles.
The collection was formed as a result of a Departmental practice of combining into one collection material of various accessions relating to a particular person, family, or subject.
Transferred to Manuscripts Division on August 13, 2002.
No appraisal information is available.
