Overview and metadata sections
The collection consists chiefly of financial records, household accounts, inventories of moveable property, and some correspondence of Galeazzo Marescotti (1627-1726), who seved as papal nuncio to the royal court of King Carlos II of Spain from 1670 to 1675. The records were kept in two large volumes at the nuncio's palace in Madrid by his administrators Giovanni Battista Cassani and Canon Giandetti (majordomo) until 1675, when Marescotti was elevated to the position of archbishop of Corinth (Greece) and replaced in Madrid by Savo Millini. The inventories contain references to the moveable property of the previous papal nuncios, Vitaliano Visconti (1664-1668) and Federico Borromeo (1668-1679). Also included are a volume of [?] Campioni's contemporary observations on Marescotti's finances as papal nuncio and a volume of financial records kept for Marescotti in Rome from 1656 to 1668.
