Overview and metadata sections
Oden Meeker was a freelance author and former director of the humanitarian organization CARE.
Consists primarily of four typed manuscripts with holograph corrections: Report from Africa (1954), The Way East [published under the title The Little World of Laos (1959)], Israel Reborn (1964), and Israel: Ancient Land, Young Nation (1968). The books on Laos and Israel were inspired by Meeker's work in those countries as director of the international humanitarian organization CARE. Also included are photographs for the two books on Israel.
The manuscripts found in draft form in the collection came to print in the following publications: Report from Africa (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1954), The Little World of Laos (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1959), Israel Reborn (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1964), Israel: Ancient Land, Young Nation (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1968).
Gift of the author. Photographs and other material for "Israel Reborn" is a gift of Mrs. Oden Meeker.
