Overview and metadata sections

Consists of selected papers of Lawrance Thompson assembled from various sources, including manuscripts for Thompson's books on Robert Frost and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, corrected typescripts of lectures, and a small amount of correspondence (1936-1942) from the time he was Princeton University Library's Curator of Manuscripts and editor of the Princeton University Library Chronicle.

Not arranged according to any arrangement scheme.

Publications by Thompson: Robert Frost, the Early Years (New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1966), Selected Letters of Robert Frost (New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1964), Young Longfellow, 1807-1843 (New York: Macmillan, 1938)

Materials were assembled from various sources, including as gifts of the author in 1964 (AM 18232) and 1967 (AM 19239), a gift of Lawton M. Patten in 1975 (AM 22016), a transfer from the General Manuscripts Miscellaneous Collection (C0140) in 2009 (AM 90-19), and gifts of Mason Lowance in 2017 (AM 2017-98, AM 2017-108).

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
