Overview and metadata sections

Cummings, Hubertis M. (Hubertis Maurice), 1884-1963

Hubertis M. Cummings (Princeton Class of 1907) was a poet, essayist, and church historian.

The collection consists of works, some accompanying correspondence, and photographs of Cummings (Princeton Class of 1907). The collection contains manuscripts of miscellaneous poetry and essays, studies of Shakespeare, a eulogy of Emily Cummings, reveries of his travels in Europe, and Fables and Phantasms (1926), a book of prose vignettes. Also included is an unpublished history of several churches and parishes, entitled Pastors and People, Presbyterians of Old Paxton, Derry and Hanover Churches (Pa.), as well as unpublished manuscripts for William Shakespeare: 'Maker' in Tragedy'' and "The Celt Transfigured: Essays on the Irish Poets, 1885-1932."

This is an unprocessed collection and remains in its original arrangement.

The collection was formed as a result of a departmental practice of combining into one collection manuscript material of various accessions relating to a particular author.

10 Letters of Cummings are a gift of the author. Papers of Cummings are a gift of Edward M. Green.
