Houghton, Norris

Norris Houghton, a theatrical producer and designer, was the founder of the Phoenix, one of the first and most successful of New York's not-for-profit Off Broadway theaters.

The collection consists of the typescript (carbon) of Houghton's book A Advance from Broadway and a manuscript index to the book.

The manuscripts are arranged by type (autograph and typescript).

Published under same title (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1941.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure.
