Gordon Hall Gerould was an American philologist, born in Goffstown, N.H. He was a member of the faculty of Bryn Mawr and a professor at Princeton. In 1918 he was a captain in the U.S. Army. Among other works, he was the author of The North England Homily Collection (1902) and Peter Sanders, Retired (1920), a novel.
The collection consists of material related to Gerould's work at Princeton where he served as a professor of English from 1905 to 1946. Included are the manuscripts of Chaucerian Essays, eleven articles, class lectures, and notes grouped by subject. The collection also houses some correspondence and documents mainly pertaining to the Mediaeval Academy of America, examinations, and two short bibliographies compiled by students.
