Overview and metadata sections

Princeton University. Princeton Swara.

Princeton Swara is a student organization at Princeton University that promotes Indian classical music and focuses on awareness, appreciation, and celebration of the ancient forms of Carnatic (South Indian Classical) and Hindustani (North Indian Classical) music through student performances, educational outreach, and professional concerts.

The Princeton Swara records document the organization's activities from 2014 to 2016. The records contain founding documentation, including a constitution, financial documents, flyers, and planning documents for events.

The collection is arranged into two series: Administrative Files and Events. Folders within each series retain their originial order as when transferred to the University archives.

The records were transferred to the University Archives in April of 2016 as part of the Archiving Student Activism at Princeton (ASAP) initiative (AR.2016.025).

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.

This collection was processed by Elena Colon-Marrero in 2016. Finding aid was written by Elena Colon-Marrero in 2016.
