Vaughn, George A., 1897-

George "Bob" Vaughn, Jr., Class of 1919, was a decorated World War I pilot and a pioneer in the aviation field. Vaughn was an early member of the Princeton Flying Club. For his service in World War I, he earned the British Distinguished Flying Cross, the United States Distinguished Service Citation, and the United States Silver Star. He organized and commanded the 27th Aviation Division of New York Air National Guard and was a founding member of the College of Aeronautics in Flushing, New York, where the library is named for him.

The collection consists of newspaper clippings, scrapbook pages, photographs, filmed interviews, an autobiographical manuscript and other materials that document the life and aeronautical career of George Vaughn. The autobiographical manuscript chronicles the development of the Princeton School of Military Aeronautics. The collection also contains a copy Vaughn's "War Flying in France."
