Overview and metadata sections

Ober, Philip, 1902-1982

Philip Ober was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1923. He went on to become an actor on television and film, having small roles in notable features such as From Here to Eternity and North by Northwest. He retired from the acting profession in the late 1960s and entered the diplomatic service, working as a United States consular in Mexico City until his death in 1982.

The papers contain color photographs of Ober, his wife, and Elizabeth Taylor; newspaper clippings describing Ober's work to free American prisoners in a Mexican jail; and obituaries and letters of condolences sent to his wife.
