Overview and metadata sections

Shea, Christian Bernard

Christian Bernard Shea was a member of the Princeton Class of 1916. While a student he was an active member of the crew team, and after graduation he remained an enthusiastic supporter of Princeton athletics, as well as a member of the Graduate Council. Shea died in 1961, and in 1998 a new rowing center was constructed in his name.

This collection consists of Princeton University athletics statistics and newspaper clippings compiled by C. Bernard Shea between 1901 and 1960. A number of sports are represented; however, the bulk of the materials relate to football. Also included is a copy of Intercollegiate Football, A Complete Pictorial and Statistical Review 1869-1934 edited by Christy Walsh.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.

Container list created by Eleanor Wright '14 in January 2012 and finding aid updated by Christie Peterson in February 2012.

A copy of the book "Athletics at Princeton: A History" edited by Frank Presbrey and James Hugh Moffat was removed as it is available elsewhere.
