Abstract:

With the cooperation of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Bowen launched a study that thoroughly explored the relationship between the Federal Government and Princeton University. Consists of notes and research materials compiled by William G. Bowen for use in his study The Federal Government and Princeton University, a report on the complex funding and research relationships between the two institutions.

In 1960 at the time that this study was undertaken, William G. Bowen was a professor and researcher in the Industrial Relations Section. With the cooperation of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Bowen launched a study that thoroughly explored the relationship between the Federal Government and Princeton University. When it was published in January of 1962 the study was well-received. Bowen would go on to be appointed provost in 1967, and president in 1972.

Consists of notes and research materials compiled by William G. Bowen for use in his study The Federal Government and Princeton University, a report on the complex funding and research relationships between the two institutions. The notes reflect interviews Bowen conducted with faculty and staff. A copy of his final report and a paper published by the U.S. Congress on a similar subject are also included.
