This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections. Unless otherwise noted, the materials described below are physically available in their reading room, and not digitally available through the web.

Overview and metadata sections

Many of the architectural drawings and plans were completed by Philadelphia firms, including William S. Vaux; Morris and Vaux; Savery, Scheetz, and Savery; Addison Hutton; Price and Walton; E. Nelson Edwards; Harbeson, Hough, Livingston, and Larson; Vincent G. Kling; George Spencer Morris; Louis T. Klauder; G.M. Ewing; Carroll, Grisdale and Van Alen; Robert E. Lamb; Mellor, Meigs, and Howe; Baily and Bassett; and others. Many of the landscaping plans were created by Stevenson W. Fletcher, Jr., Director of Campus Planning.

This collection consists of architectural drawings, blueprints, site plans, and other visual works representing the architecture and landscaping of Haverford College from the 1870s to the 2010s.

Most materials are arranged by building or site. Groupings of plans by specific architects and landscape designers have been maintained where possible.

This collection is likely to grow as additional drawings and plans are transferred to the College Archives.

The majority of material in this collection was transferred from various offices and departments at Haverford College to the College Archives. Some materials were donated by individuals.

Box 1
Scope and Contents

Three mock-ups showing aerial views of campus buildings. The mock-ups show additions to the campus over time (1833-1899, 1900-1929, and 1930-1983). A note in pencil on the back reads "The Spirit and the Intellect," suggesting it was prepared for Greg Kannerstein's book of the same name, published in 1983.
