Dr. Thomas Wistar (1837-1913) was born on March 23, 1837 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Haverford College from 1853-1858 and received a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1863. Wistar served as a tutor and librarian at Haverford College from 1858 to 1861. After medical school, he worked as a doctor in Philadelphia, maintaining his ties with his alma mater through the Haverford Alumni Association. Wistar was well known for his short poems, songs and articles. He died on September 27, 1913.
This collection contains two copies of a single song, written by Thomas Wistar for the Haverford College Alumni Association. Most of the verses praise Haverford and reminisce about time spent at the College. A theme of reliving the past is also present. Each stanza of the song ends "with loyal hearts again!"
