Thomas Woodward Jones was born in Birmingham, Pennsylvania and entered Haverford in 1849. After leaving Haverford in 1851, he worked as a farmer in Pennsbury, Pennsylvania and married Martha C. Ogborn. He died in Philadelphia on November 19, 1877.

This collection contains five compositions written by Thomas W. Jones. The compositions are titled "Farmers Life," "Haverford," "Writing and Printing," "A Warriors Life," and one composition is untitled. All compositions are written in ink and some compositions include revision markings done in pencil.
