Edward Morrill Pope was born in Cleveland, Ohio to a Quaker family. He entered the Haverford College sophomore class in 1885 and died on December 19, 1886 during his junior year because of blood poisoning caused by a rusty nail.

The collection contains a copy of "Knack and Knowledge", an essay by Edward Morrill Pope. It also contains materials pertaining to his death, including a classmate's recollection of him from 1935 and a written account of his death.

The materials are arranged chronologically.
