Abstract:
The collection contains one handwritten letter from David Stroud Burson to Samuel J. Gummere regarding a recommendation for a teaching job.

David Stroud Burson entered Haverford in 1834 as a sophomore and left before graduation in 1835. He then studied Medicine at Miami Medical College in Ohio. Upon graduation, he became a teacher. Samuel J. Gummere was an assistant teacher at Haverford College beginning in 1834, and became president of Haverford in 1862.
