The collection contains a letter written by James W. Cromwell to his father, William Cromwell, about his time at Haverford and his classes.

James William Cromwell entered Haverford College in 1855 and left in 1857. He co-founded the Athenaeum and worked as a mercantile banker in the firm William Iselin Co. in New York City.
