Overview and metadata sections
Erroll Baldwin Hay was born in Beirut, Syria (what is today Beirut, Lebanon) on March 23, 1873, to John Baldwin Hay, US Consul-General to Syria, and Cora Holmes Badger. By the time he enrolled at Haverford in 1891, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his time at the school, he was class secretary (1891) and vice president (1895). Immediately after graduating from Haverford in 1895, he became a clerk in a banker and broker's office in Philadelphia.
This collection is an assortment of academic papers from Hay's time at Haverford. Topics of these papers include Shakespeare, early Greek philosophy, rugby, college athletics, personal reflections, and immigration. Additionally, there is a script for a play, "Burial of '95", written by Hay.
The materials are arranged semi-chronologically.
