Overview and metadata sections

Ellis Yarnall Brown Jr. was born in Philadelphia in 1880. He entered Haverford College in 1897, and graduated in 1901. At Haverford, he was the assistant business manager of the Haverfordian and graduated with honors in English. After graduation, Brown worked with Downingtown Manufactory Company as treasurer. In 1911, he married Mary Downing Godley; they had four children, Ellis Yarnall, Thomas Downing, Francis Godley, and Richard Willits.

This album begins with portraits of older men, some of whom are identified. It then includes portraits of students from the Haverford College class of 1872, with some of their names identified in pencil under their portrait. There are a few group photographs from this class as well. There are also photographs of a few women, a child, a tent, and the astronomy observatory at Haverford College. "Mrs. Ellis Y. Brown Jr. Downingtown, Chester Co Pa" is written on the first page of this volume.
